DESCRIPTION:As part of her ongoing residency at the Deering Estate, award-winning vocalist Susana Behar will present a Sephardic music concert on Sunday, May 17th in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month and Mother’s Day. An internationally recognized interpreter of Sephardic song, Susana has dedicated a significant part of her career to the preservation and performance of this rich musical tradition, appearing in festivals and concert series across the United States and abroad, including last year’s performance at the Library of Congress.\nA recipient of the Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in Folk and Traditional Arts for her work in Sephardic music, Susana Behar has also served as Artist-in-Residence at History Miami Museum.\nThis special performance will showcase the rich musical legacy of the Sephardic diaspora, bringing together songs of love, longing, and cultural memory in Ladino, the historic language of Sephardic Jews.
